The patient regained consciousness after treatment with naloxone. Weakness of bilateral lower limbs was exhibited during her stay at the Intensive Care Unit. A Tc-pyrophosphate whole body muscle scan revealed areas of increased radioactivity involving left and right gluteus muscle and right biceps femoris muscle, which is most likely due to rhabdomyolysis secondary to heroin intoxication.

Case Report Multiple organ dysfunction syndrome, an unusual complication of heroin intoxication: a case report and review of literature
Multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS) has rarely been described in patients with heroin intoxication. Here, we report a rare case of MODS involving six organs, due to heroin intoxication. The patient was a 32-yearold Chinese man with severe heroin intoxication complicated by acute pulmonary edema and respiratory insufficiency, shock, myocardial damage and cardiac insufficiency, rhabdomyoly...
متن کاملCorrelation of semiquantitative Tc 99m-Pyrophosphate myocardial SPECT with the quantities of LVEF in determining the extent and intensity of acute MI [Persian]
This study was performed to evaluate the Tc-pyp SPECT role in determination of AMI severity and extension. Pyp SPECT imaging was done for 54 patients with AMI, who met the WHO criteria. SPECT findings were correlated with LVEF measurements. The abnormal scan was graded according to the intensity and was compared with the activity of the sternum in the same image. In addition, a segmental ...
متن کاملMyocardial damage of the entire ventricular region in a patient with acute myocardial infarction
Technetium-99m-pyrophosphate (99mTc-PYP) has been used, in combination with thallium-201, to estimate the site and extent of myocardial infarcts. We report a case of acute myocardial infarction with severe coronary disease in which the distribution of 99mTc-PYP was extensive. A 78-year-old man presented with dyspnea, and a diagnosis of non-ST-segment elevation acute myocar...
متن کاملRhabdomyolysis and Aminotransferase Activity Due to Acute Intoxication with Psychotropic and Chemical Substances
Background: Rhabdomyolysis is caused by the release of enzymes from skeletal muscles into the blood, which leads to systemic complications with diverse etiologies. This study evaluated the serum aminotransferases in patients with rhabdomyolysis following acute intoxication with either psychotropic drugs or other chemical agents. Methods: This study randomly recruited 140 patients suffering fro...
متن کامل99mTc-MDP whole body bone scan in a case of acute disseminated melioidosis
Melioidosis is a potentially fatal infectious disease occurring predominantly in the tropics, caused by a Gram-negative, motile, rod shaped obligatory aerobic non-spore forming bacillus, Burkholderia pseudomallei. It can produce localised or disseminated disease largely affecting immunocompromised patients. It is a challenge to identify melioidosis early as this disease can manipulate host’s ce...
